Find out why businesses are using LCA

What is LCA?

Corporate social responsibility, regulatory pressures, and consumer demands are only a few of the factors driving Environmental stewardship amongst businesses today. Business want to learn how they can best do this best, and where they should focus.

Life Cycle Assessment or LCA is a comprehensive methodology that calculates all kinds of environmental impacts (Carbon footprint, energy, water, acidity, toxicity, etc.) for a product or service across the entire life cycle – from raw material extraction, to product making, to distribution, use, and end of life. This information then helps businesses decide whether they should focus on changing their suppliers, improving waste management, or enhance the use efficiency of their products.

The schematic below [EPA] presents the input and output flows through the sequential stages of a product life cycle. One can instantly appreciate the dependence of LCA on quality data and accurate modeling so as to extract results that can influence business decision-making.

LinkCycle easily helps you consolidate primary (your facility data) and secondary (from LinkCycle database) data into a robust standard compliant LCA model that can be used to analyze the different environmental impacts from the different life cycle stages. A simulate scenario analysis allows you to determine where you should focus your efforts so as to best contribute to the environment and improve your corporate social branding.
